Greyhound’s iconic brand is synonymous with affordable long distance travel in North America and a unique national network. Founded in 1914, Greyhound Lines, Inc. is the largest provider of intercity bus transportation, serving thousands of destinations across North America with a modern, environmentally friendly fleet. It has become an American icon, providing safe, enjoyable and affordable travel to millions of passengers each year. The Greyhound running dog is one of the most-recognized brands in the world.

Greyhound has one of the most extensive travel route systems of any bus company in the nation, they also offer other perks including discounts on trips with their “Road Rewards” program. Coaches are equipped with free WIFI, extra legroom, outlets at each seat to charge devices and an onboard entertainment system that allows you to enjoy movies and television shows, play games, surf the web, and read the latest news – all completely free and all from your own Wi-Fi enabled devices including laptops, tablets or smartphones.

Greyhound does not let animals on board (not even Greyhound puppies). The only exception is legitimate service animals riding together with a disabled person.

Nearly every seat has its own standard power outlet, so you can keep your devices charged all the way to your destination. Getting off with a fully charged phone is extra handy if you're navigating around a new place.

Wi-Fi is free on all Greyhound buses, for all passengers. We see it as a must-have these days, not a premium feature. So go ahead, check your emails or Instagram window scenery from the road. Please don't stream video during your journey though - we've all got to share the bandwidth!

You have two choices: if you go to a self-serve kiosk you just need the confirmation number. If you go to the ticket counter, you'll need your confirmation number and personal ID.

If someone else bought your ticket, you'll need to show your ID and know the password that was created when the ticket was bought.

At Greyhound, boarding begins up to 20 minutes before departure time.

If you have your ticket and are traveling with carry-on bag only, just be at the gate at your boarding time.

If you are traveling with bags you need to store under the bus or still need to get your ticket, be sure you give yourself extra time to have an agent assist you at the ticket counter.

As well as your carry-on baggage, you can bring one under the bus bag for free, and two more for $20 each.

Carry-on baggage
Bring onto the bus
Must fit in overhead compartment or under seat in front
One bag up to 25lb (11kg)

Under the bus baggage
Store under the bus
Max size 62 inches (157 cm) when you add together length + width + height
Up to 3 bags, max 50lb each (22.5kg)

For more information please visit Greyhound's website.

Children between the ages of 12-16 that travel unaccompanied must have a completed Unaccompanied Child Form and pay the full fare.

Buying tickets
Unaccompanied children traveling must pay the full fare

You can only buy tickets for unaccompanied children in person, at the departing Greyhound station – you can’t do it online

We’ll also require you to fill out an Unaccompanied Child Form when you buy the ticket. These forms can only be filled out at a Greyhound station so that we can verify your ID and get consent for the child to travel and be picked up by a designated person at the other end. These precautions help ensure the safety of all children traveling with us

Here's an overview of the information you'll need to provide in the Unaccompanied Child Form:
The name, contact details and signature of the person who is giving permission for the child to travel (the child’s parent or legal guardian)

The departing and arriving destination of the child’s trip

The name and contact details of the person picking up the child at the final destination

Unaccompanied Travel Restriction
Things you need to know before booking a trip for an unaccompanied child:

The trip should be direct (no transfers)
The trip can be a maximum of 8 hours in duration (each way), between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m.

The departing and arriving stations must be full serviced agencies or company operated facilities. (not curbside stops) The station should be scheduled to be open when the child’s bus is scheduled to arrive. Use our bus stop location tool to help you find these important details

The person named on the Unaccompanied Child Form who is meeting the child must have positive photo ID, such as a driver’s license or state-issued ID card. Without the correct ID, the child may be released into the custody of Child Protective Services or to local law enforcement

A $15 fee (or $30 for a round-trip) must be paid at the point of purchase for each child traveling unaccompanied

Exceptions may apply for travel related to the Home Free, Job Corp or similar Greyhound supported programs. Please see ticket agent for details.
